Resource recovery innovation centre launched at nextgen demo case

NextGen partner Severn Trent has just opened its multi-million pound testbed for water solutions in the circular economy. The site is a demonstration case for the project, with a focus on becoming energy neutral and resource recovery.

Speaking to Water & Wastewater Treatment magazine, Severn Trent technical lead and NextGen partner Peter Vale said “We receive huge amounts of ‘waste’ water that is full of potentially valuable materials that can be recovered and regenerated, for example nutrients, cellulose, bio-plastics and perhaps in the future higher value materials such as proteins and enzymes. We can potentially use some of these materials ourselves or sell them on to be made into value-added products.”
